These 5 reminders really help me during meltdowns with our little one. It’s really important not to take them personally, and appreciate that we’re able to allow their feelings whilst saying no to a behaviour that isn’t acceptable. Meltdowns can be hard for us to rationalise...
...therefore it’s sometimes hard for us to respond rationally to our child. Each meltdown may require a different response, some may be short, some may be long, our child may want us close, or they may want us to go away. We may know exactly what our child needs in that moment, or they may reach complete dis-regulation and we are left feeling both clueless and useless, like nothing is working and we don’t know how to respond. It’s in these moments we need to pause and regulate ourselves.
Regulating our own emotions is important as it allows us to remain emotionally present. These 5 reminders really help me during meltdowns with our little one.
